Masters 2020

Final Message

Thanks everyone for taking part, particularly because we have managed to raise over £2000 for my two chosen charities - Hertfordshire Homestart and Sidmouth Hospicecare.

It was a massive entry which I think proves the enjoyment of the format.   Hope you enjoyed it.

Now to prizes

Congratulations to Michael Spalding who wins the competition and takes 25% of the prize fund - £3000.

He was never far from the top of the table but had to fight off a large number of challengers, some of whom only fell away at the end.

Joint second : Jake Hyman and Jay Pitchford - £1318 each

Joint 4th : Bradley Bateup, Dan Brett, Daniel Lewis, Jamie Geffin, John Howells, Killian Conroy, Patrick Berkeley - £430 each

Joint 11th : Andy Brunger, Darren Lamb, James Corbett, Jim Fender - £125 each  (Darren came 3rd last year)

Joint 15th : Caitlin Buchan, Darren Haygarth, David Mylroi, Lorna Newman, Luke Casey, Marie Wallace, Sam Winter, Samuel Buckland, Steve Wynne - £14 each

Most Under Par Holes : Sebastian Brett - £251

Thursday score: James Dawkins, Tom Skinner - £125 each

Friday score : Jordan Welsby, Stuart Bywater - £125 each

Saturday score : Paul Leaver - £251

Sunday score : Susan Higgins - £251

Well done to all and see you in April!

Jeff

My nephew Patrick Berkeley on the sofa at home eating cheeseballs was 3rd in this competition - same age as IM who is 3rd in Masters - and then Rahm bogied 17!

Seb Brett in line for a prize in Under Pars contest

Michael Spalding 2 shots clear!

No more scorecard updates until end of play - please watch the tables

Susan Higgins moves to 9 under today

Big crowd on 6 under today now

Harry Roberts has taken Ian Copcoat's place in the lead for Sunday

I think Sam Arora was the highest ranked entrant that had Woods on 12 - he moves from 9th to 117th .  Ouch

Ah, wish I hadn't said that.

By the way, McIlroy was lowest score on days 2-3 combined and he is 3 under today too.

Ian Copcoat and Kelly Miller are 6 under today

Michael Spalding moves to 19 under by himself.  Unsurprisingly he is leading the Under Par table but Martin Earl is 2nd despite being 167th overall

Oh wow - 40 people have Woods on the 12th - are you one?  That's a 10!

A DJ wobble?

Harry Fildes picked the best golfers so far (average -9.2) - but he is down in 102nd.  Best hole selection was by Alan Wyllie 1 - he is in 56th

Charlie Foster is down in 1239th place depsite having all 6 golers still in action - really 'exceptional' hole selection Charlie

Carl Mcclean is leading the charge for the Sunday prize on 5 under thanks to Cameron Champs 3 birdoes on the first 3 holes.  Luckily he missed his treble on the 4th.

He is 3 off the lead on 14 under with John Howells having dropped a shot.

MIchael Spalding drops a shot on the 4th with Adam Scott, leaving John Howells in top spot by himself

Woods eagle chip lips out on 2nd hole

Westwood birdies 2nd as well! Rob Mullane - you have that one just to yourself!

Westwood approach shot on the 1st misses the hole by an inch.  Tap in birdie.  Alasdair DunnWilliam Thomas and Judy Spalding off to a great start.

It's a bit foggy out there this morning as Matt Wallace tees off - he has a treble bogey - luckily no one has that hole

Final Round Sunday

When you look at your scorecards now, you can switch between rounds easily.

Play starts at 1pm and I will start collecting scores from the off.  For those in the running for the big prizes there is a Top 21 page.

Paul Demby has scored the most number of pars (43)

Michael Spalding has scored the most number of birdies (22)

Auguste Ramonaite and Stephen Bristow have scored the most number of eagles (5)

....and there is no table for this but Ed Kneale has had 5 double bogeys and there are a few that have had 2 trebles!

Close of play Saturday

Thank goodness we have caught up with the schedule.  Congratulations to Paul Leaver who takes the Saturday prize with a score of 9 under. Paul sits at tied 4th.

Our co-leaders are John Howells and Michael Spalding but there is a tight field behind them if they slip up tomorrow.

Michael also leads the Under Par holes table - but he can only win 1 prize so maybe David Watts, Sara Springett or Sebastian Brett can win something?

Remember that there are money prizes for the top 15 places.

Definitely missing the atmosphere this year but hopefully someone can mount a challenge to DJ.

End of Round 2

Jordan Welsby and Stuart Bywater share the prize for the lowest 2nd round score (-9).  Note that the Saturday and Sunday prizes will be based on the golfers who made the cut so even if you lost golfers to the cut, you still have a chance.

Ian Troy and Stuart Bywater lead on 14 under.  But now we will see the leaderboard change as we push through the bogies for all those golfers that have missed the cut.

The Under Par holes table is still led by Sara Springett.

Jordan Welsby goes to 9 under for the 2nd round and a share of that lead with Stuart

Stuart Bywater takes the lead on 14 under but he has Hatton who will miss the cut.  Ian Troy joins him on 14 under

Most under-par holes - 3-way tie between Daniel Douet, Michael Spalding and Sara Springett

Bad luck for Mark Harrison and Pete Brewer - Vijay Singh has withdrawn - bogies for his remaining holes I am afraid.

Follows the withdrawal yesterday of Van Rooyen which affected 7 people

Great Masters website www.masters.com  You can watch almost any player on any hole.  Helpful as TV coverage seems to focus on just a small number of players.

Did you see DeChambeau lose a ball just a few steps from the fairway on the 3rd yesterday?  No spectators to help find it.  Now he knows how it feels.

A few housekeeping points

There were a few issues with links yesterday, hopefully sorted.

Also a couple of times the auto feed seemed to have incorrect scores for golfers, but they were subsequently corrected, but thanks for highlighting those.

There is a lot of data to update so I will continue to update tables before scorecards - therefore you might see discrepancies but the table is the more up to date score

I will send out scoring alerts using the golf@maple3.co.uk email address from now on, so to avoid those emails going to spam, please add it into your contacts
