Masters 2021

That's it

Not sure anyone mentioned to Matsuyama how important that putt was - but it gave us a winner in Paul Phillips by just a shot from smasters2 (Steve Masters). Well done gents.

All the league tables and scorecards are updated on the site.

There was a 12-way tie for the Sunday prize - see the Prize link to see how that all breaks down.

The Birdie prize was won by Starr and Harrison Smith 2. Incredibly Harrison had 2 entries and won prizes for both.

The Par competition was shared by Andrew Clark and Jenny Hamilton.

If you were in the Waverton league, Lewis wins the round of golf at St George's Hill. The bad news is he has to play with me and Nick.

In the Keen Family league the Irish contingent yet again took the honours - every time!

If you would like to see how the drama unfolded on any of those contests, have a look at the Twitter feed - there is an individual thread for each.

I will follow up with an email in the morning will full details on all the prizes.

Thanks for playing - an amazing result for the charity

Good night

Jeff

Big putt for smasters2 - Schauffele on 17

Todd Herbert

Has he stolen the Sunday prize with the Spieth birdie on 17th?

Down to the last 2% of play for the day

......and we still don't know who will win

Paul Phillips

Paul pulls it back to a share of the lead. He was 5 shots back not that long ago. as Butch Harmon would say..."Wow!"

And then Schauffele birdies!!!

smasters2 now 5 shot lead

can he lose it from here? Surely not. I just noticed this was one of the 154 random entries. Sorry, did I just ruin your street cred , Steve?

Rose bogeys 1st hole

Is that it for Justin? As I type that he knocks one stiff at the 2nd and Matsuyama slips up on 1st.

Algernon Percy

Never thought I would write this - Algernon Percy is leading the Sunday table. And Lewis surges into a 5 shot lead in the Waverton table (looking for that round of golf at St Georges Hill)

Double bogeys popping up all over the place.

smasters2 (Steve Masters - with a name like that deserves to win?) is still leading but just dropped a shot.

It gives you a new level of content from my experts in the nerve centre

Fast moving leaderboard

The Sunday table has changed dramatically in the last half hour. Sean martin now leads the table thanks to TWO eagles today from Rahm and DeChambeau.......but I just watched Bryson hit into the water at 15 - another hole for Sean.

Webb Simpson Double on 3

That has a big impact on our table. Ernest drops to 10th and IOM Raver loses the lead for the Sunday prize

Sunday Leaders

IOM Raver and John Heseltine are 5 under today. The Rahm eagle helped John.

Harrison Smith has a 2 shot lead in terms of birdies. Hector Sp 3 ahead in Pars

Rahm eagle on 2nd - that's one of the mega holes

236 have Rahm on the 2nd - he shoots an eagle 3.

Sunday Prize

Harry Trafford and Matt Conroy get off to a great start - they are both 2 under today.

My assistant statto has prepared an interesting analysis of the 'mega' holes for our competition. See it on Twitter bny following @jeffkeencharity.

Here we go - last round of the 2021 Masters

Adam Scott gets things going with a bogey on the 1st!

End of Round 3

Well that was entertaining.

The low round today was -6, made by 7 people. Arthureen Risk, Ben Buckstone, Egor Blymee, Harrison Smith, Joan Berkeley, Reuben Barry and Tim Smith. They will share the prize

Harrison Smith (2) is leading the Birdie competition with 19

Hector SP is leading the Par competition with 42

In the Main Table we have a 4-way tie on 10 under between Ernest van Vredenburch, Graham Piper, Mervyn Davies and Paul Phillips.

Well done to Ben Rooth. He lost DJ to the cut but he still in joint 9th.

Just like the actual competition, it is incredibly close and there's a lot to play for on Sunday.

Remember to follow me on Twitter. Look for @jeffkeencharity and use the #JeffKeenCharityChallenge hashtag.

Good night

All going on now

Piers Manktelow now on 18 birdies and Lewis Sutherland has 39 pars

Graham Piper now has a 4 shot lead but as I type that THOMAS hits into Rae's Creek on 13th - ouch, a treble

Big hole for Joan Berkeley with Spieth on 13th but he only gets a par. Meanwhile, Arthureen Risk gets a birdie from ROSE on 12.

Eagles flying in

Play restarting at 10.15pm

Has given me a chance to catch up a bit. Scorecards now mark which players missed the cut. Also, you should have working links to Schedules and to the 'More Data' which gives a summary to the end of Round 2.

Thunderstorm on the way?

If we get a heavy shower the course conditions will become a lot easier, favouring the leaders.

But it seemed to come as a complete surprise to Sky Sports !??

New leaders

A new name at the top of the leaderboard - Graham Piper.

Andrew Clark is now leading the Par table with 37

Kevin Bates and Reuben Barry are both 5 under today

A bunch leading the Birdie contest including Caroline Roberts, Harrison Smith , Matt Slater and Russell Catley

Stephen Browne is leading the Waverton mini league by a clear 6 shots - there is a special Waverton prize for winning that.

Top 21 Table

I just noticed this table was showing for 2019 (whoops). Fixed now and as we approach the closing stages in this competition, those in contention at the top of the main table might like to use to track who their key competitors have got.

Leaders tee off - the course is loaded

Matt Slater is a new name at the top of the Birdie table.

Its a double from FLEETWOOD for Mervyn. 3 joint leaders now.

Corey Conners hole in 1 on 6th - 9 people have him including Ben Rooth (now in joint 12th) - sorry Bracey, my eyes are failing me.

New Contenders

Ian Portas has launched himself into contention with 3 birdies today (2 from CASEY) and is just 2 shots back from Mervyn who edges to -10 at the top of our leaderboard. 3 under is the best round today so far (shared by a few)

Missed Cuts

On the golf course this morning my brother-in-law took me to one side and said , "Jeff, I think I made some mistakes on my entry form - I need to make some changes". I think quite a few of us are having the same thought.

Billy's Breakfast and JG will have an easy job following their selections having lost 5 out of 6 golfers - all those names seemed very respectable before the start of the tournament.

New Co-leader

Ernest van Vredenburch is now co-leader on 9 under. Paul Phillips is just 1 shot back on 8 under. Joan Berkeley is 3 under today and leading that contest with Bracey Lerner.

Twitter updates

You can get regular updates on Twitter. Follow @jeffkeencharity and use the #JeffKeenCharityChallenge hashtag.

Start of Round 3

We have a new leader in Mervyn Davies after the impact of missed cuts. He is one of the 7% that managed to get all 6 golfers through to the weekend.

First birdie goes to Mickelson on the 1st hole. Diane Heald is a beneficiary and moves up to joint 16th.

End of Friday Round

Some big names are out - McIlroy, Dustin, Garcia, Westwood. DJ will have to hang around to present the green jacket to the new champion. He will need to practice his smile - better than Spieth did a few years ago anyway.

It's all really close in our competition. Best today was 9 under, scored by Iain Findlay, Paul Cooper and Peter Kennell. They will share the prize.

In the main table, Jake Hyman keeps a 2 shot lead on 12 under with Alberto Pravettoni, Caroline Roberts and Lottie Woodham on 10 under. Remember there are prizes for the top 20 - that covers everyone on 8 under.

For those down the list, the daily prizes for Saturday and Sunday EXCLUDE penalty bogeys for players that miss the cut, so keep the faith!

Jenny Hamilton is leading the charge for Pars and it's Iain Findlay and Russell Catley leading the Birdie table.

That's it. The tables now show the numbers of missed cuts. Needless to say the table will look very different when I put through the bogeys for those players that miss the weekend. I will wait until Saturday tee off before doing that.

Good night

Jeff

DJ bogey on 15!!

That's a big one - 342 lost a shot there. AND he is back on the cut line.

Last 10% of scoring today

Getting to the end of play. There has been some excellent scoring at the top of the table today and it is really close. Peter Kennell is in prime position to take the Friday prize but I see at least 1 birdie out there which will change the look of that contest, Jake Hyman is 12 under and in the clubhouse - he has a 2 shot lead now which is a big margin in the context of our competition but so so easy to see that slip away from just 1 poor shot.

Dustin not firing today

DJ struggling on the 13th - the 2nd most backed hole in our competition - 377 looking for an eagle perhaps. He makes the par. Another 342 have him on the 15th.

31 have Hovland on 15 where he collects a piece of crystal for an eagle (not yet in our scoring)

Paul Cooper and Peter Kennel now lead for the Friday prize on 9 under each. Iain Findlay lost a shot somewhere. Meanwhile McIlroy looks like he will be booking an early trip home tonight. No less than 443 have him. Westwood was picked by 685.

Bad luck Cuthbert

What do you think of these choices DJ, McIlroy, Speith, Cantlay, Casey, Bubba. Not too bad eh? 3 former winners. Feel sorry for Cuthbert stuck in 2064th place. It's all down to hole selection - contributing 13 of his +15 score. But rankings will change dramatically at the cut stage. Anyone that gets 6 golfers through to the weekend will have done well I think.

Friday Best

Iain Findlay is an incredible 8 under today from just 9 holes played. A Finau eagle on the 2nd helped. Lottie Woodham is also 6 under today and moves up to joint 2nd. Caroline Roberts also challenging on the same score. Maisie Merson now on 26 pars. And Craig Roebuck is now 2nd after a Cameron Smith eagle on 13th (43 others hand him on that hole).

Par Competition

Gavin Hodges and Adrian Dale are joining in the contest for mediocrity at the top of the Par table

Jake Hyman

Jake tells me his no.2 entry is actually his main entry. Either way he is now joint leader on 9 under with Justin. Ben Pickup is also up there on 8 under. There are a bunch of people on 9 birdies now.

Its still early days. Just about 30% through the holes today so far and some have only played a couple of holes. A long evening of drama. Looking forward to watching the fight from McIlroy, Bryson and Westy.

Frederico Prave2

Frederico Prave2 is now 5 under today (with Ian Dymond), up into the top 100. Kins Willetts now level with Lewis in the Par contest (22 from 25 holes)

Rose is dropping - his putts aren't

Suddenly the leaderboard is more compact. But in our competition Justin has moved to 9 under and is 2 shots clear of the field. Laura Newby is now on 9 birdies alongside Russell Catley. But Ian Dymond is 4 under today and has moved up almost 1000 places in the table to 292nd. In the Par contest, Lewis is still leading but he has just scored a birdie - that doesn't help!

Tillie Pendlebury

Tillie Pendlebury picked WALKER on the 2nd hole (on her own) and he duly contributes a birdie via the bunker. Long way to go Tilly - up to 2042nd now

Ian Dymond

First birdie today for Ian Dymond courtesy of WIESBERGER. He is leading the Friday table.

Fleetwood Hole in One on 16th Thursday

I just watched Fleetwood's ace on the 16th yesterday on the highlights programme. That helped 94 people. If you are interested in those kind of stats you can see where the hole picks fell on the Hole Matrix link.

Day 2

Welcome to the 2nd Round. You should be receiving an email from me about now and then a second one shortly after if you are in any of the Mini Leagues, providing a direct link to your table. A lot of new functionality this time and a few lessons learned for next time (maybe). I am feeling that for the first time I have caught up (touch wood). Looking forward to the 2nd round. Massive pressure on some of the stars to recover from yesterday. Will the Augusta members make the course a bit easier so we see some better scoring? That would be my guess.

End of 1st Round

A tough day over the Augusta course today but like Justin Rose, in our competition, some made it look easy. Well done Russell Catley - he takes the Thursday prize of £450 (assuming he doesn't go on to win a bigger prize). Alberto, J.dodd and Justin were just a shot back. I will follow up with a email in the morning. Good night.

Justin Zacharia

Justin up into the leading pack, still on 6 under but then Russell takes it to 7 under again. Nip and tuck.

Justin Rose

Didn't see that coming. Normally a favourite but only picked by 8%. Dustin was picked by 52%

J.dodd joins the leaders

We have a 3-way tie at the top of the leaderboard - J.dodd is also on -6

Only Entry Tiku Patel is now leading the Birdie table

It looks like we won't be sending any more scoring alerts tonight. Hopefully will have some kind of solution tomorrow, so keep an eye here for updates in the interim. I will send a general update in the morning which will include a way for you to bookmark your mini league. Those will all hopefully be in place and updated by then.

New co-leader

Simon Simkin moves up to a share of the lead with Russell on -6

Technical issue with Emails

I'm unable to send out emails at the moment, sorry. (you might be pleased). Trying to sort it. I will continue to update the website however.

Most Pars

Jenny Hamilton is leading with 14 today having played 14. Good steady performance on day 1 . You can't win it on Thursday.....

Paul Casey

Decent performance today by Casey (one of my picks) and I see that the Casey family aka 'Paul Isn't The Best Casey' are top of the Mini League Table - all 4 members are under par. Captain's Picks have moved up to 2nd. In that league looks Like Springboy Heart went for Westie (+5 today) whereas Springboy Head made more 'sensible' choices (4 under today)

New Leader

Mike Cole and Rupert Elwes chasing the leader just 1 shot back.

But then Russell Catley sinks another birdie and moves to 7 under.

TMJ leads on 6 under

Wow, TMJ 6 under par thru 9 holes, helped by a Paul Casey eagle on the 8th.

Meanwhile Russell Catley leading the birdie charge - he has 5 and he is joint 2nd with John Belchier

Mini Leagues Ranks fixed

Appreciate that a lot of you have asked for leagues to be set up - I am working through them but tricky during play so they may not be finished today.

Mini League Rankings

Just trying to sort out the issue with the rankings on the Mini League tables.

Early Leaders

Ben Rooth, Chris Coppin, Phil Mark and Shayne Smoothly all on a share of the lead on 3 under through just a handful of holes. Looking good.

Dustin looking a bit all over the place.

Augusta looks even better without the grandstands in my opinion.

Other Tables

James Pike is top of the Pars table with 4 so far. Long way to go.

Meanwhile Dustin bogeys the 1st! 252 people had him on that hole. Course playing tough so far.

Hovland Triple Bogey on 1st hole

Ouch, that will hurt 42 people

First leader

James Georgiou is our early leader with a birdie from an out of form Stenson.

Early Bogeys

Early bogeys for Munoz and Stenson. Bad starts for Piers Manktelow and Seb Dovey .

TEE OFF!

We are underway with Dylan Fritelli the first player to make an impact on our competition. Just 1 person has him on the 1st hole (Russ Limbrick) and its a ......bogey. Whoops Russ will find himself in 2064th position

Mini Leagues

We have 87 mini leagues active on the site and I have another 30-40 requests to set up more. I will get to those as soon as I can today. Please bear with me but do email me if you would like to be included. If so, it really helps if you can provide me with your Entry IDs.

The Competition has now started - no more entries will be accepted

Thank you for your incredible support - 2064 entries which means that we will be donating a total of £7063 to Glass Door. See the breakdown of prizes on the Prizes link. There are cash prizes for the top 20 and for each day as well as for the most birdies and pars.

You can now see everyone's selections on the site, either by clicking names on the Main Table or by searching through the Mini Leagues. On each individual scorecard, you can see how popular your golfer choices were and you can also click through to the Schedule for the 1st round and see when each of your golfers will tee off and navigate the course.

Demand for mini leagues has been very high this time (understandably given the size of the entry). I still have a few in my inbox to get to so please bear with me. If you think you should be included in any of the mini leagues (especially Waverton/TJP employees, please let me know. I tried to pick up as many as I could but there will be many that I didn't identify.

At this point, I must thank a few people for their help. First to our sponsor Waverton Investment Management for donating £2000 to the charity and for providing some essential IT infrastructure - thanks to Mudassar and Adnan as well as Nick our CEO who I see has 'put quite a few chips on the table' this time. Thanks also to Adam Canfield who has been very helpful with the scoring and to Tom Vance who did a great job on the website. A big thanks to my daughter Sian who has spent hours with me, developing the site and in particular the entry form and payment. That has really made the whole thing more scalable for me. I am sure you will know that it has been a big job putting all this together so thanks very much to all those but also to you all for coming back again in such fantastic numbers. Well, its the Masters right?

We tee off around 1pm UK time Thursday so hopefully you will start to see some activity in scoring soon after that. You'll get a message from me every time one of your golfers scores anything other than a par. Importantly those emails will give you a direct link to your scorecard which you should bookmark in your browser for the duration of the tournament. If those scoring alert emails get too much for you however, just let me know and I can turn them off for you. Please do keep an eye on this page for updates during the tournament and I will try to post as much as I can on twitter (@jeffkeencharity) so that you can interact if you wish.

There's a lot of data on the site. Please note that I will update (i) the Main Table (ii) your scorecards and (iii) the Mini Leagues - in that order. There will inevitably be some delays so please bear with me.

Finally I hope you enjoy the golf over the next few days. For those of us in the UK, we will be hoping for one of our boys to be in the running at least. Good luck!
