Open 2022

That's it!

A really exciting and special 150th Open. St Andrews never disappoints. There were 32 prize winners but very well done to our joint winners Mpc and SimonClodes1. All the prizes are now updated on the Prize link.

I’m grateful to those that have helped to make the competition happen, especially Ed Blake in the Waverton IT development team.  But also to my daughter Sian who helped on the entry form and my son Jason who did a great job on the Twitter feed.  Thank you to our sponsor Waverton Investment Management for the generous £2,000 donation.  And thank you to all the participants.  We can all be proud to have been part of raising £5,500 for White Lodge.

That's it until the Masters next April. Have a good Summer.

Jeff

Only 24% of the way through the 4th round

That includes the fact that our missed cut golfers have all finished. A few of our leaders haven't even teed off yet. So a lot of twists and turns to come.

Missed Cut Table Update

Dan Bellamy leading MC1, Bissman Steve Utah leading MC2 and Scoot66 still leading MC3+

Huge goes large

Huge leads the Sunday table on 4 under - including 3 birdies from MATSUYAMA

.....and now joined by a posse of others

Sunday Prize

The lead goes to -3 for Sunday. Janet Rocastle leads the table

Justin Thomas birdie on 2nd

There is a scoring error from our external scores provider. It will be amended soon. ALL FIXED

Lucky Lokey1

Lokey1 is joint 3rd having picked the best holes of anyone in the competition (so far) - her choice of golfers was distinctly average, sorry Tamsin.

The best golfers were picked by Jason Kittinger - Cameron SMITH, Rory MCILROY, Scottie SCHEFFLER, Tommy FLEETWOOD, Tyrrell HATTON, Viktor HOVLAND

Early Sunday

Early birdies for a big group who all lead the race for the Sunday prize on 2 under (19 people at 9.50am)

Early Saturday leader

Neil Morjaria is off to a fast start with 2 birdies from MOLINARI.

Just to be clear, although I am at a wedding this afternoon, all the scoring should work automatically (thanks to Ed in the control room).

Missed Cut Tables

The new Missed Cut Tables are up. They Are led by Hlcn, Bissman Steve Utah and Niblicks1 but all are really tight. Enjoy moving day.

Twitter commentary

Hope you have been watching the great content on Twitter. Unfortunately the team are out to dinner tonight so commentary will be light from now on. Hope you did well today. I will send out a summary - maybe later , maybe in the morning, depending on how good tonight is!

Birdies/Pars/Bogeys

Rob Mullane is the only one that enjoys Bogey notifications - he has 9 so far and leads the table. There are big groups chasing the Par and Birdie contests - you need 14 birdies or 26 pars to compete with these high flyers

Justin ROSE withdraws

Oh dear, not a good start as Justin Rose (picked by 125 of you) has pulled out. He will be replaced by the next available golfer on the list (as per the rules of the competition - see 'How to Play'). It will take a me a while to work that through the system as I have some commitments this morning. Will advise you of your revised entries as soon as I can. Thanks for your patience.

Welcome to the JKCC Open 2022 Competition

The golfers teed off before 7am this morning and I believe some people have already been receiving notifications of birdies.

John Belchier was our early leader with 2 birdies from Webb SIMPSON but he has given one of those back. Roland Parker and Simon Cowan are now joint leaders on 2 under

Amendments to the Open field

Late qualifiers and a few dropouts mean the list has changed again. Daniel BERGER is a non-starter for example, which has led to a few changes entries.

Extra players added

There are 4 more spots available at the moment and no doubt there will be some withdrawals so the list will change between now and tee off next Thursday. There are specific rules to cater for instances where your chosen golfers withdraw at the last minute, so don't worry about that. But once players have teed off, they are live and if they withdraw, will score bogeys for the remainder of the competition. It's rare but it does happen.
